Whether it’s because of a prank gone wrong or simply a case of bad luck, getting stuck in a weird place is always embarrassing. In this article, we take a look at 8 times people got stuck in weird places!
1. Prison Wall
In August of 2013, three men attempted to smuggle over 200 pounds of marijuana into the United States from Mexico by driving a SUV through the barrier at the Nogales port of entry. The SUV became stuck on top of the wall, and the men were forced to abandon their plans and surrender to authorities.
The wall was not damaged in the incident, but it did take some time for authorities to remove the SUV.
In January of 2014, another man tried to smuggle drugs into the United States by driving a van through the barrier at the San Ysidro port of entry. The van got stuck on top of the wall, and the man was arrested.
In March of 2014, yet another man tried to smuggle drugs into the United States by driving a truck through the barrier at the Otay Mesa port of entry. The truck became stuck on top of the wall, and the man was arrested.
2. Washing Machine
It seems like it would be impossible to get stuck in a washing machine, but it can actually happen!
If you are doing a load of laundry and happen to be wearing loose-fitting clothes, there is a chance that your clothes could get tangled in the washing machine’s agitator. If this happens, you could be pulled into the machine and become stuck.
Another way that people have gotten stuck in washing machines is by trying to fix them when they break down. If you are not a trained technician, it is best to leave repairs to the professionals.
If you do find yourself stuck in a washing machine, try to remain calm and call for help. Do not try to force your way out of the machine as this could make the situation worse.
3. Baby Swing
In August 2017, a 1-year-old boy in China got stuck in a baby swing for almost 5 hours. The child’s father had put him in the swing for a nap, but when he went to check on him, he was nowhere to be found.
After searching the house, the father went outside and found his son stuck in the baby swing. The child was hanging upside down and was unable to free himself.
The father called the police and firefighters were able to rescue the child. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution but was not injured.
This is not the first time a child has gotten stuck in a baby swing. In 2015, a 2-year-old girl in the UK got her head stuck in a baby swing after climbing into it on her own. She was eventually freed by her mother.
In December of 1858, a young girl named Virginia O’Hanlon got stuck in a chimney. She had been playing with some friends when she climbed up the chimney and became stuck.
It took rescuers two hours to get her out. They had to use a special tool to break through the bricks so they could pull her out.
Virginia was lucky that she was not injured during the incident. However, she did learn a valuable lesson – never play near a chimney!
5. Claw Machine
We’ve all been there before – you see a cute stuffed animal in a claw machine and you just have to have it. So, you put in a few quarters and start playing. But then, something goes wrong. The claw doesn’t work properly and you end up getting stuck!
It’s happened to more people than you might think. In fact, there are even websites dedicated to documenting times when people have gotten stuck in claw machines.
Some of the most common places people get stuck are in the head or neck area. This can be especially dangerous if you’re not able to breathe properly.
If you do find yourself stuck in a claw machine, don’t panic! Try to remain calm and call for help. If you can’t reach anyone, try to wiggle your way out of the machine. And, if all else fails, just wait patiently until someone comes to your rescue!
6. Traffic Cone
It’s pretty easy to get stuck in a traffic cone if you’re not careful.
In 2013, a woman in England got her head stuck in a traffic cone after she tried to retrieve her phone from inside it.
A man in China got stuck in a traffic cone while trying to climb over a fence.
In 2012, a drunk man in Scotland got his head stuck in a traffic cone and had to be rescued by firefighters.
And, most recently, a woman in Florida got her head stuck in a traffic cone while trying to take a selfie.
7. Cement Silo
In July of 2015, a man in China got stuck in a cement silo while trying to retrieve his phone that had fallen inside. Rescuers used a power washer to dislodge the man, who was then taken to the hospital for treatment.
In May of 2017, a woman in India got stuck in a hole that was being dug for a new well. It took rescuers two hours to dig her out. The woman was not injured.
In January of 2018, a man in Russia got his head stuck in a snowman. It took firefighters 45 minutes to free the man, who was not injured.
These are just a few examples of times when people have gotten stuck in weird places!
There have been many times when people have gotten stuck in toilets. This can happen for a variety of reasons, such as the toilet being too small, the person being too big, or the toilet being clogged.
